Free Orientation: "Should You Start Your Own Business?--The Basics"

People hoping to start a business have lots of common questions, and often issues they may not think to raise. To meet this need, and to make our counseling more productive for both counselor and client, we have designed this unique seminar.

It could save you lots of dollars, time, heartache, and stress.... the best free deal in town!

The purpose of this free orientation is to provide some perspective about the risks and activities involved in owning a small business. It will emphasize the initial planning that should be done by anyone considering starting a small business.

This workshop covers the "basics" of business formation, though it is not a detailed “how to” discussion of all the start-up steps. It will outline the steps to take to see if a business idea is worth pursuing.  And it will identify various sources of help for you to determine the viability of your business idea.

This workshop will help you to prepare for subsequent business counseling at SCORE, for attending training at training classes at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and will also provide a basis to start you on your own independent research work.

No pre-registration is required. Just show up about 10 minutes early.

"Starting a Small Business Workshop" for Military Personnel

This comprehensive four hour workshop has been designed to answer the basic questions when military personnel are considering leaving the service and starting a small business.

Included in the presentation are discussions on the advantages and disadvantages of starting from scratch, purchasing a franchise or buying an existing business. While this information is an important first step, it does not replace the need to seek legal and accounting advice for concerns unique to your individual business.
